Decades of growth, innovation and investment

1980s

RH Fibreboard was founded by Derek Ruffell-Hazell in the centre of Wellington, Somerset, supplying corrugated packaging solutions to businesses across the South West.

1990s – 2010s

As customer demand grew, the business outgrew its original premises and relocated to Chelston on the outskirts of Wellington. Additional factory and storage space was added over the years to support continued growth.

2019

The Goonvean Group acquired RH Fibreboard, marking the beginning of a significant programme of investment into facilities, equipment and manufacturing capability.

2022

A dedicated large-format packaging facility was established in Wellington to support the growing demand for specialist and oversized corrugated packaging solutions.

2023

The acquisition of SH Fiske expanded the group’s capabilities, expertise and customer offering.

2024

Smart Packaging joined the group, further strengthening manufacturing capacity, packaging design expertise and service capabilities.

2025

Partnered with PSL to expand our customer offering of complimentary services and consumable packaging. Operations were consolidated across a multi-site manufacturing footprint in Thornbury, Bristol and Wellington, creating the foundations for Peninsula Packaging and bringing together decades of packaging knowledge, specialist capabilities and manufacturing expertise.
